Featured Project
Frank Hobbs Elementary Walking School Bus

Our project began a few years ago when we participated in Saanich's Safer City, Safer School Travel Program. Once we had established and improved our safest routes to school we began an intensive effort to reduce the number of cars used to transport children to and from school.
Our program has been growing and we have now have a firmly established walking/bicycling train with new routes under development. We are now beginning to introduce WOW days (Walk on Wednesdays. The WOW days will encourage students/families to meet at general meet and walk locations. The idea is to develop relationships within the community that will support the development of more walking school buses. Our long term goal is to increase our alternative transportation from an average of 50 percent to 85 percent (achieved on IWALK day this year).
