MyTravel Calculator

MyTravel is an online calculator for individuals and groups to measure the greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) arising from transportation to and from school. Its unique ability to balance accuracy, details, student identity safety, simplicity and fun allows easy access to measurable and meaningful results. Individuals can use MyTravel to:

• Calculate the emissions currrently generated by their travel to and from school.
• Make a plan to reduce their transportation emissions.
• See what will happen if they implement their plan.
• Take action and check their results.

Teachers can use MyTravel to:

• Teach applied math – estimate and calculate total distance travelled, kilocalories spent walking or biking, fuel consumption and fuel cost savings, tonnes of CO2 emissions reduced.
• Evaluate students’ transportation habits before and after undertaking a sustainability education program.

Students can use MyTravel to:

• Help their fellow students become conscious of and work to reduce the environmental impacts of their transportation choices.
• Conduct a school wide inventory of transportation emissions and set school goals for emissions reduction.
• Support a Walk or Bike To School day or campaign.
