School Resources

There are a number of resources available to BC Schools through HASTE. Check back often to find out about new opportunities and support for your school or program.

  • School Idle Free Signs: The Provincial Government has Idle Free signs available for free through HASTE. Interested BC schools can order up to 4 signs, each of which measures 12" by 18". They are made of aluminum, digitally printed with reflective coating and anti-graffiti coating, and have two holes drilled in the centre so they can be mounted on poles, fences or buildings using these pre-drilled holes. You can also request some Idle Free key chains and vehicle decals to help spread the word.
  • Cycling Training for the School Community: A professional development workshop for teachers and school staff in Metro Vancouver who have considered cycling to school but lack the confidence or skills to commute by bike.
  • Arthur Orsini (Urban Thinkers) and Bernadette Kowey (Way to Go) have put together A Guide to Child & Youth Engagement in Active School Travel Projects. Training and supporting groups of student leaders is an exciting way of engaging schools in walking and cycling promotion. The guide is intended to offer some preliminary, and preparatory, considerations before setting up a child or youth engagement project on active transportation.
  • ICBC has worked with teachers and road safety experts to prepare these NEW, free of charge learning resources to ensure that B.C. students develop road safety skills and awareness. These educational materials - which include lesson plans, instructor guides and DVDs - support prescribed learning outcomes as established by the B.C. Ministry of Education for students in Kindergarten through Grade 10. Access these resources through the link above or at
